The North Regional meet was hosted by St. Olaf. This race determines which teams will move on to the National Championships in Lansing, Mich., on Nov. 19. The runners were met with cold conditions in the high 20s.

Carolyn Shult (Sr. - Augusta, Wis.) was the top Blugold with a fifth-place finish at 22:26.2. Next in for Eau Claire was Naomi Long (Sr. - Medina, Minn./Wayzata) with a 22nd-place finish at 22:48.7.

Also scoring for the Blugolds in the team's top five were Katie Faris (Sr. - Chippewa Falls, Wis.) in 27th with a 22:53.6, Ashley Kachurik (Sr. - Wadsworth, Ill./Warren Township) in 31st with 23:03.0, and Keeley Behr (Fr. - Aurora, Ill./Matea Valley) in 40th with a 23:24.7. Shult, Long, Faris, and Kachurik earned All-Region for finishing in the top 35.

"Today's regional race was a good lesson showing that we race much better working together than on our own," Blugolds coach Dan Schwamberger said. "If we are awarded an at-large bid to nationals, we will refocus and make sure this happens next Saturday."

The Blugolds will find out on Sunday whether or not they will move on to nationals. The National Championships will be in Lansing, Mich., on Nov. 19 at 11 a.m.
