MENOMONIE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's volleyball team defeated UW-Stout 3-0 in Johnson Fieldhouse tonight.
The first set was closely contested but the Blugolds came out on top 27-25. They then won 25-17 in the second set and 25-20 in the third.
Kelly Schuh (Sr.-Appleton, Minn./Hortonville) led the match in kills with 13 as she hit .400 (one error with 30 attempts). The Blugolds finished with 33 kills with just eight errors, tying a season low, while hitting .272, the fourth best percentage this season.
Maggie Holcombe (Fr.-Shakopee, Minn.) led the team with 19 set assists and Lauren Sutherland (Sr.-Dayton, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) led the match with 19 digs.
The Blugolds finished with a total of four blocks while the Blue Devils had three.
Eau Claire is now 14-13 on the season and 4-1 in the WIAC, in second place. Stout drops to 13-12 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The Blugolds have won 18 straight matches over UW-Stout going back to 2005.
The Blugolds will have the weekend off and will compete next Wednesday against UW-Stevens Point in Eau Claire's regular season home finale. Action will get underway at 7 p.m. in the McPhee Physical Education Center.
