Women's Track and Field Honors Three with Team Awards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's track and field head coach Chip Schneider recently announced the 2011 winners of the annual team awards.

Julia Baranek was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Baranek claimed the conference title in the outdoor triple jump competition. She also made three NCAA national championship appearances, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the outdoor high jump event.

Hannah Norwick and Liz Amici earned the Newcomer and Captain awards, respectively. Norwick competed in a few different events and found success in the long jump competition. She highlighted her season with a third place long jump finish at the indoor WIAC championships.

Amici placed in the top 10 in three different events – triple jump, pentathlon and 55-meter hurdles - at the indoor WIAC championships this season. Amici's runner-up finish in the pentathlon propelled her to a ninth place outing at nationals.
