Women's Indoor Track & Field Takes 33rd at Nationals

BEXLEY, Ohio (Blugolds.com) - With four All-American performances today and five overall, the UW-Eau Claire women's indoor track & field team took 33rd place at the two-day 2011 NCAA Division III Championships, hosted by Capital University.

UW-Oshkosh won the national title with 46.5 points while Wartburg College (Iowa) was second with 44. MIT took third with 30.5 and Methodist University (N.C.) was fourth with 26.

Combined with Liz Amici's (Sr.-Whitewater, Wis.) All-American finish in the pentathlon yesterday and the four All-American performances today, the Blugolds accumulated seven points.

Kim Miresse (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) had the Blugolds' top finish today, taking seventh in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.33 seconds.

In the 400-meter dash, Talisa Emberts (Jr.-Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) came in with an eighth-place finish with a time of 57.90 seconds.

In the 4x400-meter relay, Emberts, Erin Schoenfelder (So.-Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community)Corinna Saager (Sr.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Jordanne Greenup (Jr.-Fridley, Minn.) combined to take eighth with a time of 3:57.40.

In the field, Julia Baranek (Jr.-Port Washington, Wis.) captured eighth place in the high jump with a leap of 1.66 meters (5-5.25).

The Blugolds' outdoor season will get underway April 2 at the Wartburg Select meet in Waverly, Iowa.
