Women's Indoor Track & Field Qualifiers Announced

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Blugolds.com) - Nine UW-Eau Claire women's indoor track & field members have qualified to compete at the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships, NCAA officials announced tonight.

The championships will be contested March 11-12 at the Capital Center Fieldhouse in Bexley, Ohio. The event is hosted by Capital University.

Eau Claire will compete in eight different events over the two-day period.

In the field, Brittany Frederick (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) will participate in both the shot put and the weight throw.

Julia Baranek (Jr.-Port Washington, Wis.) will compete in the high jump while Liz Amici (Sr.-Whitewater, Wis.) was selected to compete in the pentathlon.

On the track, the following Blugolds will compete at the championships:

Kim Miresse (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) – 55-meter hurdles

Maria Peloquin (Sr.-Prescott, Wis.) – 800-meter run

Talisa Emberts (Jr.-Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) – 400-meter dash

The Blugolds also earned a spot in the 4x400-meter relay. Earning a spot to compete in the relay were Emberts, Jordanne Greenup (Jr.-Fridley, Minn.)Corinna Saager (Sr.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Erin Schoenfelder (So.-Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community).

A season ago the Blugolds finished 15th at nationals but with a larger group competing this season the Blugolds will look to make a bigger impact.
