Fehler Sets School Record as Blugolds Win Pointer Eastbay Invitational

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team traveled to Stevens Point Saturday, winning the meet while also setting a school record.

Results

Carly Fehler (Sr. Oak Creek, Wis.) set a school record in the 60-meter dash and claimed first with a time of 7.74 seconds.

Kayla Kelsey (Sr. Sparta, Wis.) and Kelsey Worachek (Fr. Appleton, Wis.) finished a Blugold sweep in the event, recording times of 7.94 seconds and 7.98 seconds respectively.

Those three also combined for three of the four legs of the 4x200-meter relay team—Lindsey Laufenberg  (Sr. Waunakee, Wis.) was the fourth—that won with a time of 1:43.65.

Laufenberg found success in her individual events as well, winning the 200-meter in 26.29 seconds.

Sarah Glidden (So. Greenville, Wis.), Brooke Patterson (Sr. Sussex, Wis.), Kim Drewiske (Sr. Green Bay, Wis.), and Steph Rouse (Sr. Minnetonka, Minn.) won the 4x400-meter relay in 3:59.61, while the distance-medley relay team of Monica Emerson (Sr. Somerset, Wis.), Jess Rupnow (Jr. Sussex, Wis.), Rouse, and Lucy Ramquist (Sr. River Falls, Wis.) finished first in 12:05.67. 

Rupnow and Patterson claimed first and second, respectively, in the 400-meter with times of 59.77 and 1:00.55.

Two Blugolds finished in the top three in the 60-meter hurdles, with Drewiske coming in second at 9.22 seconds and Glidden finishing third in 9.25 seconds.

Laura Crave (Jr. Waterloo, Wis.) claimed first in the 3000 meter in 11:12.79, while teammate Renee Culbertson (Fr. Bristol, Wis.) came in third in the same even with a time of 11:32.30.

In another distance race, Melody Becker (So. Osseo, Wis.) finished second in the mile in 5:19.75.

Calla Karl (Sr. Frederic, Wis.) rounded out the Blugold runners, taking second in the 800 meter with a time of 2:23.29.

Glidden returned to take third in the high jump with a height of 5-01.25, and Samantha Madrzak (Fr. Menomonee Falls, Wis.) took third in the pole vault with a mark of 11-01.75.

The Blugolds will return to action for the WIAC championship, which begins Friday, Feb. 27.
