Reineck Leads Women’s Track at Pointer Invitational

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team saw strong performances and good team depth at the Pointer Invitational hosted here today at UW-Stevens Point.

The Blugolds finished 3rd out of nine teams earning 114.5 points.  UW-Stevens Point won the invitational with a total of 153 points followed by UW-Whitewater who collected 136 points.

Jessie Reineck (So.-Greenville, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) was the lone Blugold first place finisher on the day winning the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.93 seconds.  Her time was more than one second faster than her previous top time of the season and is the 24th-fastest time nationally in NCAA Division III.

Three Blugolds placed in the top four of the 60-meter dash led by Kelsey Worachek (Fr.-Appleton, WI/Xavier) who finished second with a time of 8.03 seconds.

Six Blugolds advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles out of eight qualifiers led by Kim Drewiske (Sr.-Green Bay, WI/Preble) who finished second in a time of 9.41 seconds.  The time was Drewiske's fastest of the season.

Eau Claire continued to show its depth placing four runners among the top six of the 200-meter dash led by Lindsey Laufenberg (Sr.-Waunakee, WI) who finished second clocking in at 26.41 seconds.  For Laufenberg the performance produced her fastest time this year.

Steph Rouse (Sr.-Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) placed second in the 800-meter run timing in at 2:17.24.  It was the first time this season Rouse competed in the 800.

The Blugolds return to the track next Friday, February 13 where they will compete in the St. Thomas Invitational.  Competition is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
