MENOMONIE, Wis (Blugolds.com)-The UW-Eau Claire women's track team competed Saturday at the Warren Bowlus Open, hosted by UW-Stout, and was highlighted by Carly Fehler's (So.-Oak Creek, Wis) first place finish in the long jump.
Fehler won the event with a jump of 5.22 meters, the only jumper to surpass five meters on the day. Fehler also took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.39 seconds.
Evy Theisen (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Regis) helped Fehler sweep the long jump, as she took second with a leap of 4.87 meters.
Calla Karl (So.-Frederic, Wis.) came away with a runner-up finish in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:38.57, narrowly missing first place by 1.15 seconds.
Lindsey Haller (Sr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) followed up a victory last weekend with a second place finish in the shot put. Her throw measured out at 13.03 meters.
The Blugolds also got a solid performance from Jessie Reineck (Fr.-Greenville, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) in the 400-meter dash, placing third in a very fast race with a time of 59.41 seconds.
No team scores were kept at the Warren Bowlus Open, but the next scored event will be held next weekend as the Blugolds travel to UW-Stevens Point to compete in the Stevens Point Multi and Pointer Invitational. Multi-event athletes will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, while the rest of the team will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
