Women's Indoor Track & Field Wins Blugold Triangular

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's track & field team dominated the Blugold Triangular meet at the Ade Olson Addition Saturday afternoon, easily outdistancing itself from UW-Platteville and UW-Stevens Point

The Blugolds won nine events to score 232.833 points, more than 100 points better than second place Stevens Point with 127.666 points.  Platteville came in third with 81.5.

Megan Mulligan (So.-Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) and Steph Rouse (So.- Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins), both All-Americans a season ago, started a strong 2013 campaign by crossing the line in first place.  Mulligan won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.64 seconds while Rouse claimed the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.73.

Ashlyn Mauer (Sr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) continued where she left off in cross country, where she claimed All-America honors, by winning the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:12.38, exactly one second ahead of Danielle Kunkel of UW-Platteville.

Monica Emerson (So.-Somerset, Wis.) ran at the national cross country meet this fall as well and also started off strong, winning the mile run with a time of 5:32.40. 

Carly Fehler (So.-Oak Creek, Wis.) and Brooke Patterson (So.-Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) swept the 55-meter dash in times of 7.37 and 7.57 seconds, respectively.

Kim Drewiske (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) won the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.92 seconds.

The Blugolds also performed very well in the field this afternoon.  Kayla Simon (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Regis) won the long jump with a leap of 5.03 meters and Stephanie Frempong-Longdon (Fr.- Minnestrista, Minn./Waconia) started off her college career with a victory in the triple jump with a leap of 10.56 meters.  Lindsey Haller (Sr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) won the shot put with a toss of 12.53 meters. 

The Blugolds look to continue their hot start next Saturday as they compete at the Warren Bowlus Invitational, hosted by UW-Stout.  Action commences at noon.
