Women's Tennis Cruises Past Stout on the Road

MENOMONIE, WI (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team continued Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Wednesday as they traveled to UW-Stout to take on the Blue Devils. After a clean sweep in doubles play, the Blugolds were victorious in all six singles matches for the 9-0 win.

Results

At the No. 1 doubles and singles spot, Clare Palen (Jr. – Rochester, MN/Lourdes) made her return to the lineup and finished the day 2-0. Samantha Fuchs (So. – DeForest, WI) played alongside Palen at No. 1 doubles in their pairings 8-0 shutout win. In singles, Fuchs continued her dominant play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Stout's Ellie Becker.

Morgan Nelson (Jr. – Beaver Dam, WI) and Anna Lee (Fr. – Buffalo, MN) also won their No. 2 doubles match with an 8-0 scoreline. Nelson took the win at No.3 singles, 6-2, 6-2, and Lee shutout Ashlyn Dellemann (Stout) 6-0, 6-0.

Rounding out the singles and doubles play was Sydney Presler (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Altoona), Morgan Dekan (So. – Altoona, WI), and Liv Herzog (Fr. – Owatonna, MN). Presler and Dekan earned an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles, while Lee and Presler only surrendered two sets each in their singles' matches.

The Blugolds (2-1, WIAC 2-1) will be back on the road for WIAC play on Sunday, September 18th at UW-River Falls. First serves are scheduled for 11AM.
