Nine wrestlers named NWCA Scholar All-Americans

MANHEIM, Pa. (blugolds.com) — Nine University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestlers earned Scholar All-America status from the National Wrestling Coaches Association for the 2022-23 season. The Blugolds ranked 27th in all of Division III with a team grade-point average of 3.497.

NWCA Release

Preston Carlisle (Fr. - Red Wing, Minn./Cannon Falls), Marcus Hankins (So. - Sauk City, Wis./Sauk Prairie), Jon Harvey (Fr. - Lake City, Minn./Lincoln), Jan Hernandez-Soto (So. - Minneapolis, Minn./Patrick Henry), Tristan Massie (Jr. - Hillsdale, Wis./Barron), Chase Melton (Sr. - Spooner, Wis.), Sam Melton (Sr. - Shell Lake, Wis./Spooner), Zach Sato (So. - Oswego, Ill.) and Niall Schoenfelder (So. - Antioch, Ill.) were all named Scholar All-Americans.

Only seven other universities had more Scholar All-Americans than the Blugolds this season. UW-Eau Claire has had 30 Scholar All-Americans over the last three seasons.
