Women's Gymnastics Wins John Zuerlein Invitational

MENOMONIE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire gymnasts won UW-Stout's John Zuerlein Invitational, beating UW-Stout and UW-Oshkosh at Johnson Fieldhouse tonight.

The Blugolds finished with 182.100 while Stout was second with 179.775. Oshkosh took third with 179.275.

Eau Claire won just two out of five events but had a number of strong performances to help in the victory.

Olivia Aschenbrenner (Fr.-Cedarburg, Wis./Grafton) took the top spot on the balance beam as she finished with a 9.500. She also finished third in the all-around with a score of 36.100.

Danielle Schulzetenberg (So.-Maple Grove, Minn.) was the other Blugold to win an event as she took first in the all-around with a score of 36.425. She also had the Blugolds' best finish in the floor exercise as she tied for third with a 9.475 and a 9.450 on the vault to take second.

On the uneven bars, Claire Johnson (So.-Eagan, Minn.) had the Blugolds' best finish as she took second with a score of 9.300, a career-high.

Next Saturday (Feb. 19) the Blugolds will be back in action with a dual competition at UW-Oshkosh. Action will get underway at 3 p.m.
