Blugold Gymnasts Fall in Final Regular Season Meet

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Competing in its final meet of the regular season, the UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team fell to UW-La Crosse 184.650-178.975 at Mitchell Hall tonight.

Olivia Aschenbrenner (Fr.-Cedarburg, Wis./Grafton) had the Blugolds' best finish of the night as she took first on the balance beam with 9.450. The score was her best since February 11 when she scored a 9.500 at UW-Stout's John Zuerlein Invitational. Aschenbrenner also had Eau Claire's best finish on the uneven bars with a 9.000 as she finished fifth.

In the floor exercise, Danielle Schulzetenberg (So.-Maple Grove, Minn.) had the Blugolds' top finish as she took third with a 9.450. She also finished third in the all-around competition with a 36.500.

On the vault, Sarah Hulbert (Sr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) had Eau Claire's best finish as she took fourth with a mark of 9.300.

Next up, the Blugolds will compete in the WIAC Championships, which also serve as the NCGA's West Region qualifier for the national championships. UW-Stout hosts the WIAC Championships next Saturday with events getting underway at 4 p.m.
