Gymnasts Win Final Regular Season Home Contest

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team took down Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) 179.950-172.575 in its final regular season home competition tonight.

In the victory, the Blugolds won all five events.

Sarah Hulbert (Sr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) won the vault with a 9.600 while Danielle Schulzetenberg (So.-Maple Grove, Minn.) took second with a mark of 9.250.

On the uneven bars, Claire Johnson (So.-Eagan, Minn.) took the top spot with a 9.000. Olivia Aschenbrenner (Fr.-Cedarburg, Wis./Grafton) and Michaela McCamey (Fr.-Dayton, Ohio/Homeschooled) were second and third, respectively, with scores of 8.950 and 8.850.

The Blugolds also took the top two spots on the balance beam. Schulzetenberg won it with a 9.475, a season-high mark, and McCamey was second with a 9.400.

Schulzetenberg also won the floor exercise with a 9.225 and took first in the all-around with a 36.075.

Next Friday, the Blugolds will be at UW-La Crosse for the final meet of the regular season. The Blugolds will next be at home when they host the 2011 NCGA Championships, March 25-26.
