Behmer Breaks School Record as Gymnasts Fall to Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Rachel Behmer (So.-Maple Grove, Minn./West Lutheran) set a school record on the uneven bars, but the UW-Eau Claire women's gymnastics team ended up falling 190.050-185.100 at UW-Whitewater today.

On the uneven bars, Behmer achieved Eau Claire's best finish, scoring a school record 9.550 to tie for second place in the event. The Blugolds' previous best mark on bars was 9.525, set by Lynn Morris in 2004.

On the vault, Sarah Hulbert (Sr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) had the Blugolds' best finish, tying for second with a 9.625, a career-best.

Cece Solem (So.-Mendota Heights, Minn./Henry Sibley) scored a career-high 9.600 to take third on the balance beam while Danielle Schulzetenberg (So.-Maple Grove, Minn.) tied for first in the floor exercise with a 9.700, also a career-high.

In the floor exercise, Olivia Aschenbrenner (Fr.-Cedarburg, Wis./Grafton) had Eau Claire's best finish as she took second with a career-best 37.275.

The Blugolds' previous best team score this season was 181.675, achieved in California on January 21. Eau Claire finished just .500 shy of a school record team score, which is 185.600 set in 2005. The Blugolds marks on the vault, bars and floor exercise were all season-highs.

Next Friday the Blugolds will compete at the John Zuerlein Invite at UW-Stout. The meet is set for 6 p.m.
