Men's Track & Field Team Wins Four Events at Warren Bowlus Open

MENOMONIE, Wis. (Blugolds.com)-The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team netted four first-place finishes to pace the team Saturday afternoon at the Warren Bowlus Open, hosted by UW-Stout.

Cody Prince (So.-Appleton, Wis./North) won the 600-meter run with a time of 1:21.90.  His time was .53 seconds away from breaking the school record.  His teammate, Jacob Dennis-Oehling  (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.) was right behind Prince, finishing second in a time of 1:21.94.

For the second straight week, Roger Steen (So.-Luck, Wis.) came away with a win in the shot put.  His toss of 16.56 meters was a strong 1.22 meters ahead of the second place finisher.

Tony Floyd (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.) and Cory White (So.-Tomah, Wis.) each scored their first victories of the young season, as Floyd won the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.45 seconds and White won the high jump with a leap of 2.01 meters. 

Seth Friedrich (Jr.-Pine Island, Minn.) narrowly missed a victory of his own, as he took second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.08 seconds, just missing out on the first place time of 23.07 seconds.

No team scores were kept at the Warren Bowlus Open.  The next scored events will take place next weekend as the Blugold multi-event athletes compete at the UW-Stevens Point Multi at 1:00 p.m. Friday in Stevens Point while the rest of the team competes at the Pointer Invitational beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, also in Stevens Point.
