Men's Indoor Track & Field Finishes Fourth at Eastbay Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track & field team finished in fourth place out of 19 teams at the Eastbay/Pointer Invitational on Saturday.

Eau Claire finished with 84 points while UW-Oshkosh won with 145 and UW-La Crosse was second with 99. UW-Stevens Point took third with 90 points.

Three Blugolds found their way to victories in four events.

Thurgood Dennis (So.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) led the Blugolds as he won two events. He broke his own school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.80 seconds. The previous school record, which he set on Feb. 25, 2012, was 6.90 seconds. His winning time was the second best in the nation so far this year and the top time in the WIAC. He also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.75 seconds, almost one second in front of the rest of the field, and the fastest time in the conference so far this year.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Tony Floyd (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.) won with a time of 8.47 seconds.

Mike Kosiak (Sr.-Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) won the pole vault with a height of 4.51 meters (14-9.5).

The Blugolds will be back in Stevens Point next Friday and Saturday for the WIAC Championship.
