Men's Indoor Track & Field Secures Five First-Place Finishes at UST Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track & field team came away with five victories after competing at the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) Invitational today.

In the 800-meter run, Alex Adkinson (Sr.-Whitewater, Wis.) took first with a time of 1:58.17, edging an NCAA Division II opponent by a half of a second.

In the one-mile run, Matt Scott (Jr.-Kiel, Wis.) won with a time of 4:17.55, more than a second in front of the rest of the field.

Tony Floyd (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.) claimed first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.42 seconds, narrowly missing his own school record.

In the 4x200-meter relay, the Blugolds had the lone team competing and finished with a time of 1:32.92.

Roger Steen (So.-Luck, Wis.) led the field events for Eau Claire as he took first in the shot put with a toss of 16.70 meters (54-9.5).

UPDATED: Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. - Saturday, four Blugolds competed in two events at the Iowa State Classic.

Thurgood Dennis (So.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) finished in fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.96. The time is the best in the conference so far this year.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Dennis, Cody Prince (So.-Appleton, Wis./North), Jacob Dennis-Oehling (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.) and Seth Friedrich (Jr.-Pine Island, Minn.) took eighth with a time of 3:17.78, the second best time in the conference this season.

The team will be back in action next Saturday at the Pointer Eastbay Invite at UW-Stevens Point.
