Jeremy Kieser Named to Academic All-District Team

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's track & field and cross country member Jeremy Kieser (Sr.-Verona, Wis.) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Six Track/Cross Country First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Kieser, a senior from Verona, Wis., boasts a 3.94 grade point average and is majoring in computer engineering/physics.

At the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor track & Field Championship, he finished in fifth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to earn All-American honors for the first time in his career.

He placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the WIAC championship for the second time in his career.  Kieser also was second in 2011 and finished fourth in 2012.  In indoor WIAC competition, he took third in the 3,000-meter run this year and fifth in the 5,000-meter run in 2012 and sixth in 2011.  As a member of the cross country squad, Kieser claimed All-America honors in 2012 after finishing 15th at the NCAA Division III Championship.

Kieser is a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon Honor Society and UW-Eau Claire's Ballroom Dance Club.  He has served as a tutor for the Physics Department and a teaching assistant for the Computer Science Department.  Kieser has volunteered for the Eau Claire Express Baseball Hall of Fame Committee and the Eau Claire Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis.

In order to be eligible for the Academic All-America® program, nominees must: be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials; have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work; have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and completed at least one calendar year at the institution; have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games; and be nominated by the school's sports information director.
