Men's Indoor Track & Field Wins Nine Events at Pointer Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track & field team came away with nine wins at the Pointer Invitational at UW-Stevens Point today.

Roger Steen (So.-Luck, Wis.) won two field events today. He took the top spot in the weight throw with a toss of 15.95 meters (52-4) and also won the shot put with a distance of 16.62 meters (54-6.5).

Also in field events, Cody Prince (So.-Appleton, Wis./North) won the triple jump with a leap of 12.65 meters (41-6) and Andrew Bonlender (Fr.-Middleton, Wis.) took first in the high jump with a mark of 1.87 meters (6-1.5).

In the 60-meter hurdles, Tony Floyd (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.) won the event with a time of 8.55 seconds.

Erik Rosvold (So.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) took first in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:51.07 and Matt Scott (Jr.-Kiel, Wis.) won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.12, narrowly missing a school record.

In the 400-meter dash, Blugolds took the top two spots as Thurgood Dennis (So.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) won with a time of 49.39 seconds, also just off his own school record time.

Prince finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.90 seconds.

Next Friday, the Blugolds will be at the St. Thomas (Minn.) Invitational.
