RIVER FALLS, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track & field team had some strong performances today at UW-River Falls' Brooks Classic.
The Blugolds finished the day with five event victories.
Thurgood Dennis (Fr.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) came away winning two events. He finished the 55-meter dash in first place with a time of 6.52 seconds and won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.28 seconds, less than two-tenths of a second behind a school record.
In the 5,000-meter run, Thomas Breitbach (Sr.-Muskego, Wis.) won with a time of 14:49.03, almost 18 seconds in front of the rest of the field.
In the field, Tony Sigrist (Sr.-Byron, Minn.) won the weight throw with a distance of 64-10.75, almost four feet better than the rest of the field and just two inches short of a school record. The distance was also the second best in NCAA Division III so far this year.
In relays, the 4x200-meter team won with a time of 1:31.18.
Next Saturday, the Blugolds will be in Stevens Point for the Pointer Eastbay Invite. Competition starts at 10:30 a.m.
