MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Walter Johnson (So. - Minnetonka, Minn.) has been named a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week for April 10-16. Johnson is the position player of the week on the baseball diamond.
Johnson hit .560 with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs across six games for the Blugolds during the week. He posted a slugging percentage of 1.000. He tallied multiple hits in five of the six games, including a career-best four-hit performance — including a home run — against UW-Platteville on April 14. His four-hit showing helped the Blugolds earn their first WIAC victory of the season. In the second game of that April 14 doubleheader, he hit a double, a pair of homers and drove in five runs. Johnson had three games with at least three hits and stole two bases, while registering a perfect fielding percentage during the week.
