Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team tallied another home win over Macalester on Friday, 8-1. This marks the third straight win since the Blugold women have opened up their Spring season.
The Blugold women were strong top to bottom in their dominating win. At the No. 2 singles, Emily Cooper (Jr.—White Bear Lake, MN/ Mahtomedi) earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over her opponent. Meanwhile, at the No. 1 singles, Natalie Wijesinghe (Sr.—Apple Valley, MN) tallied a 6-1, 6-0 win over her opponent.
Eau Claire's doubles went undefeated on the day, at the No. 2 slot teammates Lindsey Henderson (So.—Prior Lake, MN) and Elaine Franta (Fr.—White Bear Lake, MN) defeated Hickey/Baker (MAC) 8-5. Alexa Brooks (So.—Beaver Dam, WI) and partner Emma Barnd (So.—Wells, MN/ United South Central) tallied an 8-4 win over Buehler/ Munster (MAC) at the No. 3 Doubles.
The Blugold women got their Spring Season off to a great start, tallying three straight wins. They return back to action March 23-26 down in Texas where they are set to play five matches.
