Women's Tennis Downs UW-Stevens Point

Stevens Point, Wis. (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team notched a win on the road Saturday, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 9-0.

Results: 

UW-Eau Claire (7-1 overall and 5-1 WIAC) swept the three doubles matches and won each of the six singles matches in straight sets. In doubles action  Sarah Henderson (Prior Lake, MN) paired up with  Kendra Berry (Duluth, MN) at No. 1 doubles, the first time all season the two competed together. The duo earned a 8-2 victory and were followed by a 8-1 win at both No.2 and No. 3 doubles. 

Senior, Sarah Henderson led the Blugolds with a win at No.1 singles, she defeated Kleist of UW-Stevens Point 6-1,6-0. Molly Stewart (Amery, WI) won by and injury forfeit at No. 2 singles while Emily Cooper (White Bear, Minn.) was victorious over Johnson (UWSP) 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles spot. Berry and Hannah Zevenbergen (Baldwin, WI/ Baldwin-Woodville) were dominate at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles slots and  Molly Sanvik (Winona, Minn.) finished the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. 

The Blugolds will travel to Madison, Wis. on October 21st for the WIAC tournament with matches starting at 1pm.
