Corey Meyer enters his second year with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling coaching staff during the 2022-23 season.
Meyer was an intergral part of the 2021-22 record setting season where the Blugolds finished the season with titles at the Messiah Invitational, 8 Man Battles and Pete Willson Invitational. In addition to a runner-up finish in the WIAC and Upper Midwest Regionals, the Blugolds had 11 Scholar All-Americans and 5 NCAA qualifiers. Meyer was a part of the Upper Midwest Regional Coaching Staff of the Year for his efforts. Meyer's role within the coaching staff is technique development, individual workouts, recruiting and travel planning.
As a wrestler at UW-Whitewater, Meyer was part of five team WIAC titles and finished second, third, and fourth in the country in addition to two top-20 finishes. Individually he was a National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar-All American twice, as well as being named the Scholastic Honor Roll three times. Meyer also wrestled internationally twice, competing in Bulgaria, Romania, and Turkey.
After the completion of his NCAA eligibility, Meyer coached for Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wis. During that season, he coached five state tournament qualifiers, three state medalists, and a state champion.
For four years, Corey served as an assistant wrestling coach at Iowa Lakes Community College. In the time at Iowa Lakes, the Lakers finished 12th, seventh, 13th and 16th in the country, had 35 national qualifiers, 11 All-Americans, three national finalists, and one national champion.
Corey received his bachelor's in Special Education from UW-Whitewater in 2016, and a Master's in Education with an emphasis in Teacher Leadership from Upper Iowa in 2020.
"Several years ago, Corey indicated interest in college coaching," Head Coach Tim Fader said. "We are very lucky that the opportunity arose to bring him to our program and the campus of UW-Eau Claire. He has been a difference maker for so many of our younger wrestlers, especially the lighter weights. He has a lot of energy and all of it is positive. He is a very strong communicator, knows wrestling and how to be a successful student athlete. We are grateful that he is on our side."
