Women's Hockey comes up short against Gusties

ST. PETER, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team continued their nonconference road game stretch against the Gustavus Adolphus College Golden Gusties on Saturday. With two powerhouse teams going at each other for a full 60 minutes, the Blugolds would lose a close one 0-1 ending their three-game win streak.

UW-Eau Claire came out hot in the first perioding out-shooting the Gusties 7 to 5, but would concede the only goal of the game just before the period would conclude.

The Blugolds kept their special teams defense sharp by killing all three powerplays they faced, improving their conversion rate to 94.7% through the first four games.

Goaltender Erin Connolly (Sr. – Mequon, WI/Homestead) stopped 22 of the 23 shots she faced in her first recorded loss of the season, but keeping a steady save percentage of .944 in her two games played.

The Blugolds will take to the road once again on Friday, November 15th as they travel to Ashland, Wis. to take on Northland College. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM from the Bay Area Civic Center.
