Blugolds Tally Seventh Straight Win

Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com)- The UW-Eau Claire's men's tennis squad earned another three wins over the weekend including a doubleheader sweep Saturday at the YMCA. The Blugolds' tallied a 9-0 win over Dubuque (IA) on Friday, a 9-0 triumph over Cornell College and a 5-4 win over Carleton College on Saturday to make that seven straight wins.

Against Dubuque the Blugolds dominated top to bottom, at No. 2 doubles teammates John Foley (Fr.—Wayzata, MN) and Matt Gilbert (Jr.—Minneapolis, MN/ Washburn) defeated McIntyre/Norman (UD) 8-0. At No. 4 singles Adam Burk (Jr.—Forest Lake, MN/ Totino Grace) tallied a dominating 6-0,6-0 win over his opponent.

In the 9-0 win Saturday morning against Cornell College, the Blugolds tallied their 5th shut out win in a row. Demetri Bush (Fr.—Edina, MN/ Duluth Marshall) defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 singles. At No. 2 doubles Matt Christensen (So.—Rochester, MN/ Century) and partner Hunter Roseth (Fr.—Lakeville, MN/ South) earned a 8-0 win. 

In the tough fought match Saturday afternoon against Carleton College, Zach Janssen (Sr.—Green Bay, WI/ Notre Dame) won a great match 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.  Teammate Matt Christensen (So.—Rochester, MN/ Century) competed hard at No. 3 singles and earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over his opponent. 

The Blugolds had another outstanding weekend of tennis, earning their 7th straight win.  They are back in action Sunday, February 23 as they take on Prairie College and Hamline University at the YMCA Menard's Tennis Center.
