
Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire men's tennis team fell to UW-Whitewater 3-6 on Sunday afternoon.
The Blugolds got out to a great start, winning two of three doubles matches. Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis./ Notre Dame) and partner Grant Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) earned a tough victory at number one doubles, defeating Jimmy Engelhart/Alex Gray (UWW-M) 8-7 (7-5). . Daniel Schoen (Brookfield, Wis/ Central) and Matt Christensen (Rochester, Minn. /Century) earned the Blugolds' second doubles victory with a 8-6 triumph at number two doubles.
After a great start in doubles action the Blugolds' were unable to keep momentum on their side. Janssen earned then only point in singles action wtih a three set win at number one singles. Janssen defeated Jimmy Engelhart (UWW-M) 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3.
The Blugolds' are now 13-7 on the year and ranked #16 in the region. The men will travel to Grinnell College on April 19, match set to start at 4:00pm.
