Men's Tennis Dominates Wheaton College

Madison, WI (Blugolds.com)- The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team earned a dominant victory over Wheaton College on March 2. The Blugolds defeated the Thunder 8-1 at the Cherokee Club in Madison, WI. With the win the Blugolds improve to 9-2 overall, and have won four in a row.

 Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis./ Notre Dame) and  Grant Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.)  earned the Blugolds first point at number one doubles with a 8-6 triumph. The duo of  Matt Christensen (Rochester, Minn. /Century) and  Daniel Schoen (Brookfield, Wis/ Central) continued their winning ways with a 8-1 victory at number two doubles, while Evan Fridinger (Woodbury, Minn.) and Adam Burk (Forest Lake, Minn/ Totino Grace)  finished the doubles sweep with a 8-5 win at number three doubles. 

In singles action the Blugolds earned points at the two through six spots. Mauthe defeated Cheng (WH) 6-3, 6-4 at the two slot, while Christensen followed up with a 6-0, 6-3 win of his own at the three spot. Schoen took down Winters (WH) 6-2, 6-3 at number four singles, and Ethan Grissom (Franklin, Wis.) and Burk both earned victories at the five and six spots, respectively. 

The Blugolds will travel to Indiana next weekend to take on  Depauw (IND) and Rose Holman. Follow all the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app
