
Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) The University of Wisconsin men's tennis team swept both matches on April 7. The Blugolds defeated North Central (Minn.) and University of Northwestern (St. Paul) 9-0.

In their first dual of the day against Northwestern the Blugolds did not drop a set en route to a shut-out. In Doubles play, Andrew Dahl (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) and partner Daniel Schoen (Brookfield, Wis/ Central) defeated Lloyd and Ridpath (UNW) 8-3 in the number one doubles match-up. Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis. / Notre Dame) and Grant Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) earned another win at number two doubles, defeating the Northwestern No. 2 doubles team 8-1. Adam Burk (Forest Lake, Minn. /Tortino Grace) and Renan Barros (Itajai, Santa Catarina, Brazil) finished the doubles sweep with a convincing 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles. In singles action, the Blugods continued their dominance. Zach Janssen earned a, 6-1, 6-1 victory at No.1 singles, while Dahl defeated Ridpath (UNW) 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Mauthe continued his winning ways at No. 3 singles, while Burk, Logan Scott (Foley,Minn.) and Jordan Stephenson (Plymouth, Minn. /Wayzata) all were earned victories at the No. 4, 5, 6 sinlges slots, respectively.
Later in the day the Blugolds rolled past North Central (Minn.) 9-0. It was more of the same in doubles action with Jackson Lindquist (Eau Claire, Wis. /North) and Matt Gilbert (Minneapolis, Minn/Washburn) winning 8-0. First year players Carter Stumne (Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake) and Collin Sebring (Lakeville, Minn./South) paired up to earn a victory at the No. 2 doubles slot and Tom Williams (Burnsville, Minn.) and Evan Fridinger (Woodbury, Minn./Eastridge) won by default at the No. 3 doubles spot. In singles play the Blugolds stayed strong and finished the sweep without dropping a set.
The Blugolds improve to 15-3 on the season and will host St. Scholastica on April 10.
