Women and Men take 2nd place at WIAC Championships

BROWN DEER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – After day three of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Swimming and diving Championships (presented by Culver's) both Blugold teams finished in second place.

Results

The Blugold women finished in second place at the WIAC Championships with a team score of 777, following closely behind first place UW- La Crosse with a team score of 812.5. The men followed suit with a great day, ending the Championships in second place with a team score of 807, only behind UW- Stevens Point who had a team score of 964.

Individually, Michael Bylander (So.—Baxter, MN/ Brainerd) won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:01.28, setting a new conference record.

200-yard Free: 2nd place: Paige Pelikan (So.—New Berlin, WI/ West) 1:55.61

200-yard Breaststroke: 3rd place: Anna Czubak (Fr.—Shorewood, WI) 2:27.78

200-yard Backstroke: 1st place: Emma Steffel (So.—Green Bay, WI/ Ashwaubenon) 2:06.67

       3rd place: Maddie Kooima (So.—Stoughton, WI) 2:09.66

1650-meter Free: 3rd place: Anna Theisen (Sr.—Glenbeulah, WI/ Plymouth) 17:43.82

                                2nd place: Paige Pelikan (So.—New Berlin, WI/ West) 17:43.20

400-yard freestyle relay: 3rd place: Emma Steffel 25.54, Rachel Baker (Fr.—Hudson, WI) 54.01, Paige Pelikan 25.55, Katherine O'Connell (So.—Green Bay, WI/ Ashwaubenon) 53.69

3-meter dive: 2nd place: Sarah Dahlk (So.—Verona, WI/ Middleton) 404.70

1650-meter Free: 3rd place: Riley Jorgenson (Jr.—Winona, MN) 16:38.87

1-meter dive: 1st place: Dylan Glumac-Berberich (Sr.—Fridley, MN) 572.95

                      3rd place: Martin Kocher (Fr.—Saint Paul, MN/ Johnson) 446.20

It was a great final day for both Blugold Swim and Dive teams at the WIAC Championships ending with both teams taking second place.
