EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Athletic Training program welcomed visitors from abroad, as a group from International Pacific University (Japan) were recently on campus.
A group of undergraduate students along with faculty members visited the Kinesiology Department to learn about athletic training programs in the United States and to share their knowledge of Judo Therapy, a unique, federally approved credential in Japan that allows the therapist to perform a reduction/manipulation of a joint or bone as part of the treatment. This is the only credential besides physician to legally perform this technique.
A demonstration session on manipulation and stabilization of a clavicle fracture with the Student Athletic Trainers' Association (SATA) intrigued students who attended the session. The Department of Kinesiology hopes to establish a relationship between the two institutions to provide continued opportunities for students on campus to interact with individuals from abroad.
