Women's Cross Country Competes at Lake Wissota Meet

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Once again, the UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team used strong pack running, this time placing six individuals in the top 10 at the Lake Wissota Invitational, hosted by the Blugolds. No team scores were kept at the meet.

Leading the way was Angie Gasser (Sr.-Tomah, Wis.) with a fourth-place finish and a time of 19:49 over the duration of 5,000-meters.

After another runner snuck in to grab the fifth spot, five straight Blugolds crossed the line.

Emily Symons (Fr.-Onalaska, Wis.) took sixth in a time of 19:53, Emily Holman (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./Century) grabbed seventh in 19:55 and Rebecca Lubecki (Jr.-Janesville, Wis./Clinton) snagged eight place in a time of 19:56.

Josey Rieber (Fr.-Holmen, Wis.) and Melanie Buckmaster (Chesterton, Ind.) rounded out the top ten by placing ninth and 10th with times of 19:57 and 20:01, respectively.

Up next for the Blugolds is the WIAC Championship next Saturday at UW-River Falls. Eau Claire will try to win its seventh straight conference championship.
