Women's Cross Country Takes 10th at Brooks Invitational

WINNECONNE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team had its top five runners come within 20 seconds of one another to lead the Blugolds to a 10th-place finish with 317 points at the 37-team Brooks Invitational in Winneconne, hosted by UW-Oshkosh. Calvin (Mich.) won the meet with 71 points.

Alana Jenkins (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) crossed the line first for the Blugolds just as she has all year. She placed 53rd in a time of 23:02.27 over the 6,000-meter course.

Nikki Rendler (Sr.-Lodi, Wis.) came in 59th-place in a time of 23:04.87.

In her first race back from an injury suffered right before the Falcon Invitational on Sept. 14, Lucy Ramquist (So.-River Falls, Wis.) came in 62nd with a time of 23:07.12.

Sydney Pretasky (Fr.-La Crosse, Wis./Central) came in 71st-place with a time of 23:13.06 and Monica Emerson (Jr.-Somerset, Wis.) notched a 91st-place finish in a time of 23:22.95.

Part of the Blugold team will compete at the Lake Wissota Invitational next Friday at Lake Wissota State Park. Those not competing Friday will rest up for the WIAC Championship, Nov. 2 at UW-River Falls.
