Blugolds drop regular season finale to Tommies

St. Paul, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team fell to the St. Thomas Tommies on Saturday evening 3-2 (25-27, 12-25, 25-19, 25-23, 11-15).

After dropping the first two sets, the Blugolds responded strongly with wins in sets three and four, before dropping the final set. As a team, Eau Claire hit .200 on the evening, but hit .305 in sets three and four.

Madelyn Pashibin (Sr. – Minneapolis, MN/Southwest) recorded a season-high 23 kills to pace the Blugolds offense. Kendra Baierl (So. Marshfield, WI/Columbus Catholic) added 10 kills while Arianna Barrett (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/North) and Makenzie Bachmann (So. – Chaska, MN) added 9 each. Bachmann and Taylor Scalia (So. – Lake Elmo, MN/Stillwater) each racked up 22 digs and Madison Surprise (Sr. – Appleton, WI/Kimberly) tallied 49 assists.

The Blugolds will host a second round WIAC Championship tournaments match on Nov. 1st at 7 PM, taking on the winner of UW-Stout vs. UW-Stevens Point. The Blugolds defeated the Blue Devils 3-2 on October 24th and the Pointers 3-1 on October 13th.
