Women's Indoor Track & Field Wins Three Events at Pointer Last Chance

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's indoor track and field team recorded three event victories competing at UW-Stevens Point's Last Chance meet Saturday.

In the one-mile run, Steph Sjostrom (Jr.-Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) won with a time of 5:03.66, more than 15 seconds in front of the rest of the field.

Kim Miresse (Sr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.11 seconds.

Julia Baranek (Sr.-Port Washington, Wis.) took first in the triple jump with a mark of 11.47 meters (37-7.75).

On Thursday, Michelle Baranek (Sr.-Port Washington, Wis.) competed at the North Central Last Chance meet in the pentathlon and came in second place with 3,193 points.

Next weekend the Blugolds will compete in the two-day 2012 NCAA Division III Championship in Grinnell, Iowa. Competition gets underway Friday at noon.
