Women's Tennis Dominates Saint Benedict

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team with another dominating win moving them to 5-1 on the season.

The number one doubles team of Colleen McCullough (Sr.-Maple Grove,MN/Osseo) and Sarah Henderson (So.-Prior Lake, MN) hit the ground running with an impressive 8-3 win over number one doubles for Saint Benedict. Paige Kuepers (Sr.-Green Bay,WI/Southwest) and Olivia Gallagher (Jr.-Lodi,WI) lost just their second doubles match on the year losing 5-8 at two doubles and Amy Orthaus (Jr.-Lake City,MN/Lincoln) and Molly Sanvik (Fr.-Winona, MN) recorded a 8-6 victory.

In singles play, Henderson had a hard fought win over Victoria Beach in number one singles, winning 6-2, 3-6, 10-8. At number two singles McCullough defeated Emma Pederson 6-1, 6-4.

Paige Kuepers at number three singles held off Rachel Raden 6-1, 6-2. At the number four slot, Gallagher defeated Cassy Finn 6-3, 6-3.

 Amy Orthaus and Kendra Berry completed the singles sweep, earning wins of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-1 at number five and six singles.

The Blugolds are 45-9 in match play on the year, they have had an impressive start to the year sweeping the first four teams they faced. The Blugolds will compete in the ITA tournament this coming weekend.
