RIVER FALLS, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team took on the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons on Wednesday, coming away with a 0-0 tie in double-overtime.
The Falcons started the game with three shots before the Blugold defense shut them down and fired four shots of their own to finish out the first half.
The Blugold defense was solid again in the second half, stopping the Falcon offense that launched three shots in a three-minute period. Offensively, the Blugolds ramped up their attack in the second overtime but still could not find the back of the net. The Falcons had one last opportunity to score that hit off the cross bar to secure the 0-0 tie.
The Blugolds out-shot the Falcons 13-10 in the contest with nine shots on goal and two for River Falls.
Sammie Lefaive (Jr. – Coon Rapids, WI) earned two saves on the day and moves to 5-5-2 on the season.
Eau Claire (6-7-2, 3-1-1 WIAC) will host UW-Oshkosh on Saturday for another Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match-up. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. Follow the action on Blugolds Game Day.
