Women's Soccer shuts out Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team earned a hard-fought win on the road on Wednesday night, defeating Dubuque 1-0.

Emily Sullivan (Fr. – Medina, MN/Wayzata) led the offensive attack for the Blugolds, firing three shots on goal and netting the only goal of the game at the 50-minute mark.

The Blugolds out-shot the Spartans 8-5 and tallied five corner kicks to Dubuque's two. Sammie Lefaive (Jr.-Coon Rapids, MN), this week's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, had another stellar night in goal, earning her third shutout of the season. The junior goaltender recorded a save to bring her season total to 37.  

The Blugolds (3-5-1) will be back in action on Saturday, October 1st as they travel to Platteville to take on the Pioneers to open WIAC play. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
