Women's Golf Takes Eighth at Home Invite to Open Season

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team finished in eighth place out of 15 teams after two rounds of competition at the 2014 Doug Georgianni Memorial Invitational.

The Blugolds completed the tournament with 667 strokes after shooting 326 on day one at Wild Ridge Golf Course, followed by 341 on day two at Mill Run Golf Course.

Carleton College (Minn.) won the tournament with 628 strokes while UW-Stout was second with 651 and Wartburg College (Iowa) was third with 652.

Two Blugolds finished in the top 15, led by Kate Engler (Sr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) with 160 strokes, tied for 11th place. Emily Stone (Sr.-Eden Prairie, Minn.) tied for 15th place with 162 strokes.

Rochelle Beardsley from Wartburg claimed medalist honors in the 88-golfer field with 154 strokes.

Next Saturday and Sunday the Blugolds will compete at the Wartburg Invitational at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa.
