Fischer & Pierce Earn NFCA All-Region Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Blugolds.com) – Two UW-Eau Claire softball players were recently honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), being selected to the All-Region Team.

Amanda Fischer (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./West) and Taylor Pierce (Jr.-Ashwaubenon, Wis.) were named to the Great Lakes Region First Team. It was the fourth time in Fischer's career she was named to the All-Region Team while Pierce was selected for the third time. 

Fischer set the single season school record with 12 homeruns this season while tying for the career school record with 38 homeruns. After stealing 29 bases this season, Fischer smashed the career school record, tallying 101 steals, 26 more than the previous record holder. The third baseman led the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in nearly 10 offensive categories on her way to earning Position Player of the Year Honors and being named All-WIAC First Team for the fourth time in her career.

Pierce earned All-WIAC First Team honors for the for the third time in her career after finishing the season with a .385 batting average with 50 hits and 30 runs scored as the designated player. She also recorded an on base percentage of .446 and 11 doubles.
