Six Blugolds Earn WIAC Honors

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.  (Blugolds.com)— Six UW-Eau Claire softball players have earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference awards for the 2015 season. Casey Arnold (Sr.-Kaukauna, WI), Lauren Blasczyk (So.-Appleton, WI/East), Amanda Fischer (Sr.-Wausau, WI/West), and Taylor Pierce (Sr.-Ashwaubenon, WI) were selected to All-WIAC Softball Team in a vote by the league coaches.

Catcher Casey Arnold received honorable mention All-WIAC honors following the 2014 season. She ends her career as a four-time letterwinner while also being recognized as a conference Athlete of the Week this season.

Blasczyk was one of five pitchers selected to the All-WIAC team. She finished the year leading the WIAC with a 1.71 era, giving up only 23 earned runs in 94 innings pitched. Blasczyk was also named a WIAC Conference Pitcher of the Week in April.

Pierce played in the designated player spot for the Blugolds in 2015. Her 2015 All-WIAC award is the third of her career as she grabbed 1st team All-WIAC honors in both 2012 and 2014.

Fischer also garnered on of the WIAC's top awards, being named Position Player of the Year for the 2nd time in 2013. She is the third individual in WIAC history to receive the honor twice. Her first team All-WIAC nod at third base is the fourth consecutive for Fischer making her the fourth player in UWEC Softball program history to become a four-time first team All-WIAC player.

Kelsey Meredith (So.-Golden Valley, MN/Armstrong) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, which recognizes individuals who display exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.

Pitcher Laura Raflik (Sr. Plover, WI/Pacelli) was a co-recipient of the WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award. Raflik graduated Summa Cum Laude in December after 3.5 years at UWEC. An actuarial science major and information systems minor, she maintained a 3.94 grade point average and earned WIAC Scholastic Honors three times.
