LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's track & field team split up this weekend at two separate meets and got big performances from both the Eagle Open, hosted by UW-La Crosse, and the Dr. Keeler Track and Field meet in Naperville, Ill., hosted by North Central College.

The 400-meter men shined brightly in La Crosse.

Thurgood Dennis (So.-Allouez, Wis./Notre Dame) added to his already impressive resume by winning the 400-meter dash and setting a new outdoor school record in the process, his fourth outdoor school record.  His time of 47.10 seconds bests the previous school record of 47.25 seconds set by Eric Burrell in 1990.

Not far off from Dennis was teammate Cody Prince (So.-Appleton, Wis./East), who took second in a time of 48.08 seconds.

Jacob Dennis-Oehling (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.) made it a clean sweep as he took third in a time of 48.25

The Blugolds also got third place finishes from Tony Floyd (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.) and Roger Steen (So.-Luck, Wis.).

Floyd took third in the 110-hurdles in a time of 14.81 and Steen took third in the shot put with a heave of 17.10.

At North Central, Jeremy Kieser (Sr.-Verona, Wis.) took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:04.61.

Aaron Easker (Sr.-Eland, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood) narrowly missed out on the school record in the 1,500-meter run, taking fourth with a time of 3:50.99.  Jake Zander still holds onto his record with a time of 3:50.71.

The Blugolds will get to know La Crosse more than they already have in the next two weeks.  The final last chance meet will take place their next weekend before the NCAA Division III national meet commences on May 23, also in La Crosse.
