Thurgood Dennis Leads Men's Track & Field Team at UW-Platteville

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Thurgood Dennis (So.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) set a school record while winning two events to lead the sixth-ranked UW-Eau Claire men's outdoor track & field team to a fourth place finish out of 11 teams at the UW-Platteville Invitational today.

The Blugolds finished the day with 94 points while UW-Oshkosh won with 160. UW-La Crosse was second with 152.5 and UW-Platteville was third with 110.5.

Eau Claire came away with four event victories on the day, including two from Dennis, one which was a school record.

In the 100-meter dash, Dennis took first with a time of 10.30 seconds to break his own school record, which he set on May 26, 2012 at nationals. The previous best time was 10.47 seconds. He also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.40 seconds.

Erik Rosvold (Fr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:02.35, more than one second in front of the rest of the field.

In the 5,000-meter run, Aaron Easker (Sr.-Eland, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood) took the top spot with a time of 14:18.91.

The Blugolds will be in action again next weekend at UW-La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge. Multi-event athletes will kick off action Thursday while the rest of the team will compete Friday.
