EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugold.com) – The No. 18 UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team won a close battle with No. 17 Carthage, 5-4 at the Eau Claire YMCA Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Hoffmann (Jr. Franklin, Wis.) won at number one singles, defeating Pawel Jaworski 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) while teammates Conrad Felten (So. Wausau, Wis.) and Andrew Dahl (Fr. Fort Atkinson, Wis.) also earning victories in singles, with Felten defeating Nick Stephan at number five, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 and Dahl defeating Alex Ferruzzi at number six, 6-1, 6-2.
At number two doubles, Will Weyenberg (So. Neenah, Wis.) and Andrew Rust (Fr. Golden Valley, Minn.) defeated Alex Boomgarden and Chris Conley, 8-6 while Michael Mauthe (So. Neenah, Wis.) and Jordon Stevens (Jr. Woodbury, Minn.) defeated Stephan and Ferruzzi, 9-7.
The Blugolds will travel to Iowa next weekend to take on Loras on Friday night and Dubuque and Lawrence on Saturday afternoon.
