ST. PETER, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming and diving team won their first dual meet of the season defeating Gustavus Adolphus College 148-139 here today at the Lund Center.
The Blugolds won seven individual events led by Thomas Hensen (So.-Delafield, WI/Kettle Moraine) who won two events. Hensen won the 100 Backstroke in 56.06 seconds and the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.84. Evan Koch (Sr.-Oak Creek, WI) won the 100 Butterfly finishing the race in 55.50 seconds. Dayton Miller (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Schaeffer Academy) won the 200 Breaststroke in 2:16.76. Ryan Young (So.-Lakeville, MN/North) earned top honors in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:03.05.
Eau Claire won both diving events. Matt Moylan (Jr.-Waukesha, WI/West) won the three-meter dive with a score of 196.95 and Shawn Westphal (Jr.-Eau Claire, WI/North) won the one-meter dive with a score of 210 points.
Up next the Blugolds travel to La Crosse where they will compete against UW-La Crosse in a WIAC dual meet. Action will take place on Saturday, November 8 starting at 1 p.m.
