Blugolds Earn WIAC Academic Honors

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its All-Academic Award winners and Scholastic Honor Roll recipients for the 2010-11 academic year.

During the 2010-11 academic year, nearly 50 percent of the 5,000 student-athletes competing in the conference achieved a 3.0 grade point average or better (on a 4.0 scale) and were named to the Scholastic Honor Roll.

A total of 360 student-athletes were named to the Scholastic Honor Roll, 154 men and 206 women.

The WIAC also presented an All-Academic Award to those institutions that had a grade point average for its student-athletes that was equal to, or greater than, the grade point average of the overall student body. Institutions receiving the All-Academic Award included: UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Platteville, UW-Stout, UW-Superior and UW-Whitewater.

The Blugolds combined for a GPA of 3.14 during the year, the 10th year in a row the department has achieved a 3.00 or better GPA.

Individuals named to the Scholastic Honor Roll received a certificate, while institutions claiming All-Academic Awards collected a plaque.
