Blugold Student-Athletes Sport a 3.14 GPA

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire student-athletes are a complete package based on their athletic successes, academic proficiency, community service and fundraising, Director of Athletics Scott Kilgallon says.

In 2010-11, the 22-sport Blugold program, which included 573 participants, finished 14th out of more than 430 NCAA Division III institutions in the NACDA All-Sports competition and also achieved a 3.14 department grade point average.

This marked the fifth year in a row the Blugolds have finished in the top 20 of the All-Sports competition and the 10th year in succession the department has achieved a 3.00 or better GPA.

The Blugolds have also won the Josten’s Community Service Award twice in the past decade, most recently during the 2009-10 season.

Blugold student-athletes also save the department revenue with their event management assistance and help fundraise over $130,000 toward the operational budget.
