WILLIAMSPORT, Penn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team went 2-1 on Friday at the Budd Whitehill Duals, defeating host Lycoming College and Castleton University while falling to The College of New Jersey.

In their first matchup against Lycoming, the Blugolds tallied a 27-15 win. Jake Drexler (Fr. – Stratford, WI), Evan Lawrence (So. Hugo, MN/Mahtomedi) and Jordan Blanchard (Fr. – Coleman, WI) recorded pins for UW-Eau Claire while Thomas Severson (Fr. – Marathon, WI/D.C. Everest), Hunter Pierce (So. – Tomah, WI) and Chase Schmidt (So. – Rice Lake, WI) earned wins by decision.
In their second dual, the Blugolds fell to New Jersey, 28-13. Drexler picked up his second pin of the day at 149 while Schmidt earned another win by decision at 165. Grant Balconi (Jr. - Muskego, WI) also picked up a victory at 197 by major decision.
In Friday's final bout, Eau Claire defeated Castleton by a score of 23-14. Drexler capped off an impressive day with his third fall to finish 3-0 on the day. Schmidt also recorded his third win while Blanchard, Balconi and Tyler Burt (So. – Beloit, WI) earned wins by decision.
