LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team traveled to UW-La Crosse Friday night, falling to the Eagles 39-6 in their first dual of the season.
Tanner Deist (Fr. – Wild Rose, WI) and Connor Hanson (Sr. – Harmony, MN/Fillmore Central) tallied victories for the Blugolds in their first matches of the season.
In his Blugold debut, Deist earned a win at 133 after defeating Josh Stenger by decision (7-4) while Hanson also earned a win by decision (4-3) over Logan Schlough at 165 thanks to a late takedown in the third period.
Seth Vosters (Jr. – Freedom, WI) also had a strong night for the Blugolds as the junior narrowly fell at 157 to La Crosse's Grant Zamin by a 4-3 decision.
Eau Claire will be back in action Tuesday, November 13 as the travel to UW-Oshkosh for the 4th Annual Chancellor's Cup.
